Xuzong Chen is a professor at the Institute of Quantum Electronics, Peking University. He is currently head of the Laboratory of Space Ultracold Atoms at Peking University. Stollery Children’s Hospital NICU, Royal Alexandra Hospital site, is a 69-bed level III NICU serving the large geographical landmass of Northern Alberta and Northern Territories as well as some parts of northern British Columbia.
The Newton Glassman Charitable Foundation Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Mount Sinai Hospital is one of the largest tertiary care newborn centres in Canada, catering to a large number of high-risk and premature neonates. The Targeted Neonatal Echocardiography program was established in 2011 and follows a consultative service model, where a request for consultation is initiated by the attending clinician on an as-needed basis and involves a comprehensive hemodynamic appraisal of the patient, including a TNE. Specific therapeutic recommendations derived from the clinical integration and interpretation of hemodynamic findings are then provided.

Our Unit provides regional neonatal surgical services for the West of Scotland, and national Scottish neonatal cardiac services. Liverpool Women’s Hospital is a tertiary maternity hospital with a large neonatal intensive care unit with approximately 8500 deliveries per annum and admitting approximately 185 very low birth weight infants per annum. A number of consultant neonatologists have trained in performing neonatal echocardiography and are involved in teaching new trainees led by Dr. NimSubhedar and Dr. Elaine Neary.
Targeted neonatal echocardiography is seamlessly integrated within neonatal intensive care for critically ill infants, utilizing state-of-the art ultrasound equipment. This consultative service is provided by a faculty TNE expert and dedicated sonographer and performs approximately 450 TNEs annually. To bring together the major academic centres around the world in the field of neonatal hemodynamics under one collaborative umbrella and to provide clinicians a window into the evolving world of neonatal hemodynamics and access to training opportunities with renowned experts. The IWK Health Center is the largest Perinatal and Pediatric institution in the Atlantic Provinces. It serves as a referral center for complicated cases including cardiac and cardio-surgical patients. The 40-bed tertiary care Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the IWK Health Centre is the largest NICU in the Maritime Provinces.

The neonatal intensive care unit at University Hospital Wishaw is tertiary careunit providing a range of medical services to infants from 22 weeks gestation onwards. Functional echocardiography and hemodynamic assessments have been integrated as part of clinical care in the unit for the assessment of PDA, pulmonary hypertension, low flow states, HIE, septic shock and central line placement and around 200 consultations are performed per year. A screening clinic to rule out congenital heart defects is run in collaboration with the paediatric cardiology team from Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.
There are several ongoing projects and the program is supported by a team of complementary experts in cardiology, hematology, neonatology, brain imaging and bioengineering. The Nationwide Children's neonatal network is one of the largest neonatal centers in the US. There are approximately 260 beds throughout the city, caring for more than 3,000 babies per year. The NICU at University of California, Irvine and CHOC Children’s Hospitalhas a 104 bed capacity which includes new, private, and state-of-the-art rooms.
On average, close to 500 neonatal hemodynamic consults are performed annually, including a high proportion of complex cardiopulmonary hemodynamic cases. The Neonatal Hemodynamics TnECHO Special Interest Group within the American Society of Echocardiography provides a collaborative forum for members with interest and expertise in this specialized field. This group cultivates innovation and scientific discovery, fosters clinical and academic cooperation, and reshapes practice in the management of neonates with hemodynamic disturbances through educational resources, recorded and live webinars, and case-based discussions. The NHTS SIG member will have the opportunity to engage in an interactive network with potential for research collaboration, and an open forum for discussion on the advances in neonatal hemodynamics evaluation and management. Through the ASE CONNECT forum members will have ongoing access to echocardiography related activities and the ability to interact with pediatric/adult cardiology imaging experts and sonographers.

The NICU at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital is a 40 bed unit providing Level IV neonatal care to complex and critically ill neonates across Northern California and beyond. The NICU provides multidisciplinary services and advanced care such as ECMO, dialysis, and postoperative care. Neonatologists care for infants with congenital heart disease in the NICU pre-operatively and continue to follow and consult on neonatal cardiac patients in the cardiac ICU, thus providing continuity of care for this complex population. The Neonatal Unit at the Royal Hospital for Children Glasgow is a 50 bed Unit providing specialist medical and surgical neonatal services.
